New JMI Network of Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils - application due 12/17/2010

Invitation to Apply for Membership in the New National Criminal Justice Coordinating Council Network

With funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Justice Management Institute (JMI), the Pretrial Justice Institute (PJI), and the National Association of Counties (NACo), are bringing together leaders and top-level staff from up to 12 criminal justice coordinating councils (CJCCs) across the country that have major roles in shaping decisions regarding criminal justice. (For more information about the partnering agencies, please see the descriptions.) The goal of this project is to provide a central place for the leaders and senior staff of CJCCs to share information and ideas about common problems and promising approaches to addressing these problems.

The objectives of this project include: 1) providing an outlet for CJCC leaders and senior staff to discuss common issues and opportunities; 2) facilitating a learning exchange among CJCCs on promising innovations and evidence-based policy and practice; 3) creating a network of CJCC leaders and staff for on-going peer-to-peer technical assistance; and 4) developing materials that will aid CJCCs in their policy making and will assist other jurisdictions in developing effective CJCCs of their own.

If you are interested in participating, please complete the application and any relevant materials about your CJCC that you would like to include (such as copies of authorizing legislation and by-laws) by December 17, 2010. You may email the application to me at enugent@jmijustice.org or by regular mail to JMI’s Washington, D.C. office at 600 N. Abingdon Street, Arlington, VA 22203. Please also include a letter of interest in the network signed by the executive committee of your CJCC. We will review all applications received and make decisions about the membership in early January 2011.

We hope you take advantage of this important opportunity and look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions about the project or application material, please contact feel free to contact me at 703-395-2650.

Sincerely,
M. Elaine Borakove
